After some discussion... tthat continued as the day unfolded, we decided to spend our time at the Forest of Arenberg, and then find a place to watch the rest of the race on tv. It was a master plan, that made one fantastic day !
Town hall in Roubaix - just next to our hotel !
High speed Cluster... We caught the TGV and a bus to get back to the car in St Quentin (it's amazing what you can work out when you can't sleep at 3am)
Approaching the course through the Forest of Arenberg ... You could hear the buzz of the crowd as we approached
The Chicken towers over the cobbles at Arenberg
Picnicing on the cobbles - waiting for the action !
The pros flew across the pave ... Amazing. Some were amazingly close !!!
After the pros had flow passed... We walked to the start of the forest, where there was a bar setup and watched the rest of the race. Checkout the mine shaft things in the background ...great atmosphere !
An amazing race, the french commentators were going crazy when cancellara was arguing with hushoft's team car.. Would have loved to see him catch the leader... But that's racing.
Was amazing to watch the telecast and recognize the location and the sectors. Love it !!
After an amazing day..it was off to pickup mother-in-law and drop off the chicken. Here she is in pro-photo mode in Belgium !
Hey Mike these posts are fantastic...perhaps a realistic competitor to "Cycling Tips" when you get back?!

So laughing - Noni asked me yesterday if you were wearing your Superman t-shirt when I told him what you were doing that day...and there you are with it on!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pics look amazing - and I swear those smiles are just getting bigger!!!
Mwahhhhhhhhhhh.
Great pics NLM but that Paris Roubaix looks like a girly ride to us. We had to ride the Bloody Blayney 2 Bathurst in a massive downpour and only 11 degrees. We think the real gladiators are back here in the "formerly known as" The Lucky Country. The Chicken would have turned blue.Il Falco would have won but the group he was in was told not to ride by their team director. They didn't want a B grader to beat the "A"s. Next year is his year unless The Falc is lured to Belgium by your smiling pictures. And the waffles.
