St Quentin - Roubaix

Let me start by saying.. Were back in the hotel... All safe and sound, no close calls and not even a puncture !

Then also let me say.... WOW !!!

It was an amazing day... I've spent years watching television and trying to imagine what it would be like... Now I know. For the rest of my life, I will watch Paris- Roubaix and know !

So... I'll let the pictures tell the story... We packed a lot into the day ! Firstly we were up at 5am (after going to bed at 12:15) and drove the St Quentin.. Rolling onto the start area with a comfortable 10 minutes ti spare. Great atmosphere ... Starting in groups of about 100. The first half of he ride is rolling french countryside with virtually no cobbles... Then everything changes and it's flat and cobbles over and over.

Ok.. I wrote that before dinner,.. Now its after dinner ... And many glasses of wine... So I'll add more intelligent othgots tomorrow...for now..here's the pics !!

On the start line ... Super excited (and super freaked out !)

The start .. Including Bernard Hinault !

First drink stop.... Complete with supply of the Black doctor !!

The Chicken in action !

The chicken at the end of Mons-en-Pevel !

2 super happy riders at the official end at Carrefour de l'arbre !

After the Carrefour de l'arbre we rode to the finish (4km) ... Got our medals... Then back the the Arbre to follow the route to the Veledrome. Wow, when we got there we were able to ride in..!!

After checking out the velodrome... We looked around found the showers !

A legendary cyclist... Recovering in the showers of Paris-Roubaix !
