Champagne

Sometimes even crazed cyclists need a day off. Yep.. it’s true. Other than the crazy TGV day and the Watch the Tour and drive to Flumet day, I’ve ridden every day so far. But today.. Non… Pas du velo!

Wonderboy of course, with his “ride alone licence” headed off for a TT training ride. I knew his introduction to France was complete when I got this txt message from him “im heading back ur way now. I will stop for a croquet monsieur in the next village”.  Awesome!
After sleeping in, reading, lazing around and a little lunch we headed into Epernay to visit the Nicholas Feuilatte champagnery (as named by MissP). In some ways it takes the romance out of Champagne, as it’s a modern and seriously automated world, totally unlike the Cave here. But, Champagne is big business and that’s very clear at NF.

After a snack and wifi stop in Epernay we headed back home just in time to head up for dinner with Claude & Laurence. And there it was… the piece de resistance, Clafoutis. As we were eating it, Claude explained that he picked the cherries off the tree near the cave 2 hours ago, incredible.
Afer dinner, a big treat, Remi took us into Reims to a light and sound show at the catherdral. Starting at 11:30pm. WOW… it was amazing. Wonderboy declared it to be the most awesome thing he’s ever seen.
