Do your own thing day

OK… we’re an awesome team, we love hanging out together, yea, yea. BUT… eventually, we need some alone time. And, that was the plan today. In honour of that, I’ll let the others talk for themselves.

Here’s my story:

I decided I wanted to head off on my bike and just roam around the mountains. MissP wanted to use the car, so she and I headed into Albertville to get her on the car contract. Of course, once there, the Europcar office was closed for lunch. So… I headed off for a 2 hour ride, agreeing to rendezvous when the office was open.
I headed out of Albertville on a random road heading east, only to discover it was the quiet valley road that would lead me to the Col de la Madeleine. Now… don’t get excited, I didn’t ride the Col, I rode to the base and back to Albertville. My plan was to track a good route back to Flumet.

After sorting out the car and grabbing some lunch (awesome!!), I headed out on the road towards Beaufort and up into the hills. It was a very tough ride up and down, add to the a storm came in making me and the road wet. But it was a real thrill to make it back to Flumet (80k in total).
Seeing that MissP had failed to achieve much “down time”, we left her the Chalet for the evening and Wonderboy and I went into Megeve for dinner. This place is nuts. It’s like Nice meets the Alps. I think I needed a designer t-shirt, and a way better hair cut!

Oscar- After a night of cross country trekking through the hills of Fumet, I decided to go for a little ride. With my legs recovering from stinging nettle I set off but only climbed of km's up a neighbouring hill. Then I finished off the remaining portion of baguette and ventured down to the petite lac. I should have learnt from my efforts the night before as I took a 'shortcut' only to discover that singing nettle littered the hillside.
After a quick swim, a hot dog et frites and a spot of rain Paula then arrived and we spent the afternoon looking for a beauty salon, no luck!
Mike and I decided to have dinner in nearby Megeve, quite a ritzy area where chalets were advertised at 10million euros!
A nice dinner and a pleasant walk ended a relaxing day.
