Tour de France Stage 5 - Cagnes-sur-Mer / Marseille

Today was transition time...time to leave our "cosy" nest in Nice and head out and find those mountains that I've been raving about "for ever"!!

But first ... there was a car to collect, a room to pack, a car to pack and ...... a Tour de France stage to watch. Yep... we hadn't had enough and decided to head out and watch the stage start just outside Nice.

Amazingly we were able to fit all our stuff in our new little car!!  (We even got most of Wonderboy in too!)

Beautifully packed we headed off to see the stage start. After searching we found a spot a few k from the start in the neutral zone. Not spectacular from a racing point of view but wow.. these guys look amazing on a bike!!

Picnic lunch and then we headed off to visit every bike shop we could to collect our essential Alpine necessities. (More gears !!). We found an awesome shop and MissP even found a helmet... no more Miss Bubble Head!! (MissP did find her new objet of desire... don't worry boys... just a new Kuota!)

Then... pedal to the metal and off through Italy (where we stopped for an awesome... MissP's new "Best ever Pasta")... and back into France to Flumet (Arriving about 1am !!)

Paula's Footnotes: Today on our drive across France and briefly into Italy (Torrino) I learnt a few things;
1. Torino is a dodgy place - restaurants for dinner don't open until 7:30 and they have never seen a blond chick in short shorts (perhaps I was inappropriately dressed) but WMM (Wing Man Mike) and Wonderboy to the rescue whisking me out of Torino and on to better places for food and delish chocolate dessert's.
2. You CAN fit 3 bikes, 3 boxes, 6 bags, 3 people and snacks into a tiny car - you've just gotta know how
3. Stopping on our way out of Bardonechia for directions from 6 cute Italian dudes is a great idea (even if you DO know they way) tick WMM
