Tour de France - Stage 4 - Nice-Nice

One day, many hoped, there'd be an Australian team in the TDF. It was a dream of so many for so long. And one day, maybe, we'd see an Aussie team wear the yellow jersey.

What I didn't realise was that we'd be there to see it happen! Unbelievable.

But before all that happened the day started with a Ride out north of Nice to Tourette-Levens. It's about 15k and climbs up to 400m, and sounded like a fun taste of French hills.

It turned out to be a nice climb with a cute town at the top complete with an old tower on the final hill.

The descent back down was awesome fun with a taste of the thrills awaiting in the Alps!

On the ride back to the hotel we found the Cofidis and Green-Edge Hotel. Bike porn heaven for a LOOK fan, and a Scott rider. I think MissP also found a few things to check-out!

After lunch and some free time we rendezvoused back at the hotel and headed out to watch the tour. The warm up area was only 100m from our Hotel, awesome booking MissP!!

We spent some time watching the warm up (lots of time at Greenedge and Sky) and the watched the teams near the start, and then moved to complete the day watching at the 800m to go point.

It is breathtaking to watch the speed and skill of these guys. And then to hear the announcer give GreenEdge the fastest time, well... it was Aussie high fives all around as the final teams failed to budge them. We went to the Tour stand to buy a Greenedge cap... no go... they had sold out (plenty of every other team still available... Go Aussie go).

(way more pics and stuff to say here...but we need to hit the road...!!)

Paula's Footnotes: Today I promoted my den brother (Mike) and took off his wing man training wheels. An exceptional job was done (while Oscar giggled in the corner) of assisting in flirting with cute bar dude. I give him a 9 out of 10 ladies. When in Nice.........
